The Stars in the Sky
The Stars in the Sky is a beautiful children’s book about loss, grief, and hope. We hope it will provide comfort if your child, or even you as an adult are walking through loss. It is not meant to be a how-to guide about navigating loss, but rather a tool to prompt reflection and conversation. The story is meant to feel timeless and universal enough to meet you, the reader, right where you are. The main character of this story is based on a real life man named Rob. He was a friend to the author and illustrator and was an inspiring human. He paid attention to people, held a posture of wonder and a desire to learn, and built community everywhere he went. His life ended unexpectedly in 2016, but his legacy lives on.
The story was written by Haylee Blauert and the stunning illustrations by Jason Jaspersen. Jason used a mixture of original sumi ink wash paintings with digital enhancements of each spread before production. This book is meant for children 6+ and adults.
